NEWARK, N.J. (September 15, 2021) — IAT Insurance Group, a provider of specialty property casualty and surety products, welcomes four more management liability employees to the team. Joe Higgins joins as Underwriting Director while Lauren Drohan will serve as a senior underwriter. In addition, Kelly Mercey and Megan Furey join as underwriters. These additions come just months after IAT’s April 2021 launch of the ML Pro Plus unit in response to strong demand for directors & officers (D&O), employment practices liability (EPL), fiduciary, crime and cyber liability coverages.

“We are excited to have Joe, Lauren, Kelly and Megan join the ML Pro Plus team,” said Angela Rimgaila, AVP for Management Liability. “All four bring a strong foundation in management liability with diverse backgrounds and industry concentrations. Our underwriters collectively have a tremendous amount of experience and industry knowledge, giving brokers direct access to key decision makers.”

Higgins joins from Travelers, where he spent 14 years in several positions, most recently as an account executive officer for management liability. In that role, he underwrote insurance for private companies and non-profit organizations with coverages that included D&O, EPL, fiduciary, cyber liability, crime, kidnap and ransom, MPL and identity fraud. He graduated magna cum laude from Kean University.

Drohan was previously with Chubb as a senior financial lines underwriter. She also worked for Cincinnati Insurance Company as a commercial lines underwriter. Drohan has a B.S./B.A. and recently earned her Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designation.

Mercey joins from Chubb where she spent the last three years as a management liability underwriter. Her experience includes D&O, EPL, fiduciary, crime and cyber coverages. Mercey attended the University of Hartford where she received her bachelor’s degree and an MBA.

Furey previously served on the specialty team at CNA. Earlier in her career, she was a management liability underwriter with a managing general agent specializing in homeowner and condominium associations. She holds a bachelor’s degree, a property and casualty license, and a Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS) designation. Furey is currently working towards her RPLU.
