IAT Receives Great Place to Work® Certification for Third Year in a Row

September 9, 2020

RALEIGH, N.C. (September 9, 2020) — IAT Insurance Group has been certified as a Great Place to Work® for the third consecutive year by the Great Place to Work Institute®. This year, 90% of IAT employee respondents agreed that “taking all things into account, this is a great place to work.”

“Employee feedback is invaluable to our continued success, and we are proud, particularly in this challenging year, that so many members of our IAT family feel that we provide a supportive and rewarding workplace,” said CEO Bill Cunningham. “It is something we take seriously at all levels in this company and I am personally happy to see that what we are doing is resonating with the people that work here.”

Great Place to Work® is a global authority on workplace culture. It leads the industry with the most rigorous, data-based model for quantifying employee experience. Since 1992 it has surveyed more than 100 million employees in the world.

IAT had an 89% response rate from employees to this year’s Great Place to Work® Trust Index™ survey. Some highlights from the results include:

  • 93% of employees said IAT has “special and unique benefits”
  • 90% of employees said IAT makes everyone feel included
  • 93% of employees said they can take time off work when it’s necessary
  • 91% of employees agreed with the statement “I feel good about the ways we contribute to the community”

Over the past five years, IAT has focused extensively on employee engagement. This includes launching new benefits, providing increased education and training opportunities, and ensuring transparency from all levels of management.

These efforts continued into 2020, with some significant adjustments driven by current challenges confronting IAT’s employees. As an investment in its employees, the company began the year by launching its College Loan Assistance Support Program. The benefit, which is available to everyone in the company, matches 50% of an employee’s monthly college student loan payment with a per-employee lifetime cap of $30,000. In February, IAT revamped its employee recognition program by investing in a partnership with Blueboard to offer rewards that provide rich and meaningful experiences unique to the interests of employees. Employees who are recognized for making significant contributions to the organization are rewarded with the ability to customize an experience of their choosing with the help of a concierge.

As the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, IAT acted swiftly to protect its employees. The company shifted to remote work and provided wellness and engagement opportunities to assist employees with that transition. In keeping with IAT’s culture of community involvement, it launched a virtual fundraiser for Feeding America, raising more than $200,000.

In response to the strong calls across the country to confront inequality and injustice in America, IAT also expanded its diversity and inclusion efforts. This included launching IAT Community Forums, which are small group discussions that provide employees with an opportunity to come together for open and honest dialogue about current social issues.

IAT has detailed information on its website about all aspects of its employee benefits program, as well as the company’s culture.
