Underwriter and Claims Trainee Program

At IAT Insurance Group, we have an Underwriter and Claims Trainee Program designed to launch your career and provide a valuable experience within the area that best fits your interest.

This is a structured training program that provides you with the foundation for a successful career within Underwriting or Claims that consists of live sessions with subject matter experts, and field work aimed at sharpening the skills you learn during the sessions. 


The Underwriter Trainee Program will provide you with the foundation for a strong underwriting future.  This program is for anyone interested in applying their analytical skills to evaluate business risk from an insurance standpoint.  This program will prepare you by exposing you to all angles of the underwriting area through classroom sessions and field work, where you will be able to leverage the knowledge you have gained.


The Claims Trainee Program is suited for individuals that are customer focused and inquisitive by nature.  Within this program, you will work with subject matter experts to investigate claims and help our customers get back on their feet after experiencing a loss.  You will be exposed to all areas of the claims process through live sessions and field work, where you will be able to leverage the knowledge you have gained.

Program Requirements

  • A four-year college degree, preferably business-related with an insurance concentration, or IAT work experience.
  • If a current IAT employee, you must have been in your role for at least 6 months and must have received, at a minimum, a “Meets Expectations”.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrated leadership, professionalism, organization and time management.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by employer.
